THE ROMANCE OF TEA - History & Customs

The Chinese regarded tea as a daily necessity along with the essential seasoning s of their vibrant cuisine. Lin Yutang, a famous writer once commented, “ with a teapot, a Chinese is happy wherever he/she goes.”

On the other hand, the well-educated and sophisticated ancient Chinese considered :lute-playing, chess, calligraphy, painting, poem, opera and tea art” as the seven landmark artistic skills that they must acquire.

The Core of Oriental culture is demonstrated in the process of tea-making, from the boiling to the drinking ceremony, as well as the delicate philosophy behind it.
